THE DAY JOB
By day I’m a Senior Technician working for Heron IT based in Ipswich. I have over 6 years of professional experience in addition to having a lifelong interest in computers. Read below to find out more about my passion and expertise.
MY CAREER IN IT
Ever since I first got my hands on a computer at school using the famous BBC Micro computers and Acorns, I knew that I wanted a career involving computers. So over the next few years that followed I got stuck in learning as much about computers and IT as I could, including completing 5 years worth of courses at Suffolk New College which led on to doing voluntary work with Suffolk Constabulary.
April 2013 marked the real start of my exciting IT career which saw me join award-winning managed service provider (MSP) Corbel as an apprentice and working my way up to earn a full-time position as Technical Consultant and then as Technical Support Engineer. So I can definitely vouch for apprenticeships and how worthwhile they can be if you have the willingness to learn and the drive to succeed.
In June 2017 after completing a training course and exams which means that I am now a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert with proficiency in: Office 365, Windows 10, Exchange Server 2016 and Productivity. Recent years have seen me dabbling a little bit into telecoms, completing a 3CX exam in May 2018 certifying me as a 3CX Basic Certified Engineer. In September of last year I completed the RingCentral Certified Communications Professional (RCCP) exam. This was followed up by the RingCentral Certified Communications Expert (RCCE) in November 2019.
Fast forward to 8th January 2020 when I started a whole new exciting journey at Heron IT as a Senior Technician. In my new role I bring with me my extensive knowledge and experience to a smaller, highly motivated team intent of going that extra mile providing that special personal touch to our clients. One area of expertise we’ll be focusing on in particular is Office 365. Myself having migrated and managed many O365 tenants totalling near 1000 mailboxes, along with the teams’ already vast knowledge we are truly the go to specialists for all of your Office 365 needs!
